Ebay has ridden us store owners asses for a long time about kws. If you wanted to get people to see what else was in your ebay store you had to use an image file to link to the categories. Ebay was (and I think is) unable to provide a good way for legit store owners to promote their ebay stores. Many store owners would like people to be able to buy related items etc etc from their ebay stores. Thus increasing ebays take on our business. So I'm not sure why the scammers didn't pick up on this method a lot earlier. It's been ebay's stance that store owners who want to promote non related items should use an image file so it's not searchable. It amazes me that scammers have taken so long to catch on to the method that has been endorsed by ebay.

I do know that ebay has made some improvements to help store owners use ebay tools to promote categories in their stores. It only took a few years. This may have helped the problem. As we all know, I've had other fish to fry these last few months and really haven't paid much attention.
