Mark does know his way around ebay, and has a good idea about what is going on site wide..
The smarter scammers, not the usual Romanians who hijack accounts and
SCREAM at you:
"EMAIL ME FOR THE BUY IT NOW!
"DONT USE EBAY ASK SELLER A QUESTION!"
either set up online bank accounts for wire transfers to be accepted at, or
hijack a real bank account of a real person, and move the money out as soon as it hits.
There are lots and lots of them every day.
Often "dormant" accounts, someone who hasnt used ebay in a long time, and isnt likely to see activity on the account, just as in the link on the bidding board.
People sending bank to bank transfers without verifying the sellers first are lulled in to thinking its safer than the Western Union transfers.
Its not.
I have seen them do as much as $40000 in 2 or three weeks on eBay.
Good luck getting the cops, the FBI, or even the banks to help when you've sent $1500, 0r $2500 bank to bank.
They dont want to, or cant help.
I assure you, its much more common than you think, just much less visible than the idiot Romanians trying for the Western Union.

When I first got on 6 years ago, There was great respect for auctions and Feed back.
The majority took it serious.
And I don't recall any scams, until 2-3 years ago, with the MC's and ATV's If IAm right, we never had scams that I can think of in Motors,
That seem to come after the MC's
I don't see how EBay could continue opperateing like they do, knowing good and well people are getting ripped off On there site, Just like I can't picture me letting someone putting in a Sprinkler system wrong and then still takeing thier $$$$$.

It's making it so hard for honest sellers. I know I looked a bit for a car and spent more time reporting scams. I just gave up, too much shit to weed through to get to something legit. Then once you find it you have all the other stuff to deal with. Easier to just go to a dealer. At least they have some incentive to treat you well. My family has bought two cars this week from one dealer in Seattle area. It's the 8th car they've bought in the last 10 years or so. You can bet the dealer wants to be good to them so that they'll keep coming back. If I could afford a newer car I'd just go up there but what I can afford isn't going to be on a Toyota dealer lot.

Don Quixote, tilting at windmills?
It's admirable to try to make things better even when it is a futile effort. I've had my share of times I tried. Got called a rabblerouser. I've had pinks ask me for input on stupid wording issues in emails and I spend time doing stuff then it never changes. I just have way too much going on in life to have time. I work, have a business, have kids, have relatives. You know, I just can't do anything about it except to bring up my website and not care what they do over there.
