While there are a lot of things that happen because people are stupid and/or greedy there is a lot that ebay could stop.
Seems like people are putting all kinds of hazardous stuff into the auctions, viruses, redirects. But ebay is too busy closing auctions for mentioning the defunct bidpay service.
Legit auto listings are sitting around in fraud prevention for hours but the first 10 or more auctions listed on the motors homepage are scams.
When a person has problems ebay doesn't assist, even when court orders are produced. Ironchick, a store owner, kept getting locked out of her account. She called the store dead help and they told her that due to hundreds of attempts to log into her account her account was temporarily locked and she would have to jump through a few hoops to be able to access it. This continued for weeks. Ebay says they have no records of what computer is trying to access her account. Someone told her she would have to get a court order to find out. She did. Ebay told the judge that they don't have that kind of info so last I heard never turned it over.
Pirateschest, another store owner, was stalked by someone. She sold a $3 item and she thinks it's possible this guy's first purchase was just to get access to her info. He started harassing her. He opened multiple id's and would buy and immediately neg her. When she asked for ebay's help she didn't get it. They allowed the negs to stand and put the silver ps out of business after she accumulated something like over 100 negs from this guy's various accounts. Given that she's a single woman and this guy had her address that was really scary. She filed with the police but ebay says they're just a venue and if people want to do this kind of thing there's nothing they can do. BTW they did close the billcobb id the stalker opened and the neg from that one was removed. She shut her business down and moved she was so scared.
NARU scammers are able to list auctions but a store owner with 1000s of listings had his whole store wiped because he was a few days late with his fees.

I am beginning to believe eBay has lost all control over their site.
They need to make a stand against the Fraud! But is seems they are so proud of their new Fee Increase they have been sending e-mails to that effect: http://www.ebaymotorssucks.com/2006Feeincrease.htm
That just shows it all right there! When a little honest seller like me can't make it on eBay with all the experience i have, It's time to hang it up! Well actually they hung it up for me, but that's OK! I don't miss the Garbage Dump one bit!
