Poor Kids, I guess I did my good deed for the day, sorta

I went to take Laurel to a BB game at the school. I was teasing her not to let the guy who's a drug addict bring her home (I think he's clean right now, my friend's ex) cause his car doesn't have reverse. Last time, I had to drag him around in my driveway. Told her I wasn't pulling anybody in all this rain.

So that spot on the road is flooded. The truck doesn't have a problem but most cars will. Some teenagers were in this really deep ditch. He was driving his dad's car, turned down the road and decided to back out, right into the ditch. This ditch is a good 3 or 4 ft deep. I chained him up and told him I'd try to get him out but he looked pretty stuck. Nope, car slide down instead of coming up. Car now has a little water in it. Poor guy. The water on the road is about 6 or 8 inches right now. Guess I detour in the morning. Might have been better off if I hadn't come along since they ended up with a little more water than when I started.

People who drive little compacts really shouldn't go down that road when it's been raining so much! I should quit carrying a tow chain. Otherwise I would have just asked if they needed a lift or a phone. Now I'm all wet.

Got lots of big orders today. Shaping up to be an ok month with something like $500 tonight.

BTW what do they teach kids these days. The kids tried to put the chain on the grill! I told him he needed to get it around part of the frame, not plastic. Geez, you'd think people would teach their kids the basic in life.

On the other hand we were around cars like these young people are around PC games today.

I mean great day I was putting in clutches and transmissions ect... when I was 16, and I don't mean on a lift.

Everything was done under the car and on the ol ground.

Daddy always said good girls don't work on cars. Once I tried to buy a 69 Cuda that was a basket case. He wouldn't let me. I tried to take auto shop. He wouldn't let me. He did agree to send me to the ladies automotive class where they teach you to pump your own gas and check your oil. I looked at him and said "Dad, I've been tuning up cars for the last 2 years, I don't think that class is going to help me".

I think he was actually proud tho when my nephew was talking about his car not working right and I told him to check the alternator and my dad said it at the same time.

My girls at least know how to change oil, filters, tow, hoses, water pumps, youi know, what every girl should know. Camille is the belt expert around here.

On the plus side, since my dad had ideas about what a proper young lady should know I can do all the housewife things and still hit the garage.

I disagree with your daddy, good girls do work on cars. I taught my two girls how to do basic maintenance on their cars, like tune ups, oil changes, tire changing, the younger on how to change an engine. Sure glad your two girls know the basics too.

These days, the girls have boyfriends or husbands to do the work. Neither one is worth a shit at fixing cars, both dumber than a box of rocks. I told the oldest one to never let her boyfriend touch one of her cars again, he's so stupid when it comes to auto repair and I can't express stupid enough.
