If the camera does not change directions, that is the famous Clearwater Beach Round About.. They did have a huge 3 tiered fountain in the middle, caused so many accidents because nobody could see the other side..

Lightning hit a transformer in front of my house, BOOM!!! Looked like the 4th Of July!
Scared the shit out of me! I was at he computer when it hit, The ups kept the system up for about 20 minutes but died.. Ended up taking a shower in the darkness.. Good thing my razor is battery operated..
Guess it is still out.. Doc's Place BBS is still down: http://docsplace.tzo.com Hope it didn't damage the system!
Thundering and lightning here at the office now.. Just another Shitty day in Paradise!

Hell, my place has looked like that all month. Power goes out somewhere almost every day. The thing I hated about the desert storms was the lighting. Out here it rarely comes close. I remember driving down my driveway in NM and having lighting hitting the fences on either side.
If this rain keeps up, we may have a bunch of flood damaged vehicles in Central Florida! Been raining here for about 20 hours and my rain guage (6") is full.
The value of airboats has probably gone up 15% in a day.
Lightning took out half of the wall outlets, fried the cable modem & my router.. Cable-co can't come out until Tuesday! So i have no internet at home!
Brought the computer that doc's place runs on into the office, but it looks like it fried the on-board nick too! The bbs users have been emailing what happened to the board.. Sigh..
Never Fricken Ends!

RS, you ever thought about installing a surge protector on your service panel, coming into the house? They are much cheaper than replacing electrical components thoughout the house, when you live in an area that has heavy lightening storms, which knocks your power out on a frequent basis.
I went down to HOme Depot and bought two bundles of shingles, having high winds and I seem to always lose shingles. I'm ready this time, unless the whole freakin' roof blows off like it did on my other house a few years ago.
Mine stays running 24/7 because it runs Doc's Place BBS. It never sleeps..
The hit came in through the cable into the router then into the pc.. It's good the other PC is at the office, or it would have been zapped too!
Don't know if the access point that feeds the wifey's computer got fried or not. Her pc has no power going to that room, it was on a wireless net connection and had a surge strip and battery backup..
I just went and bought a nic to install in the bbs machine, hopefully it will connect to the network here so i can get it back online.
Life in Florida! and it AINT EVEN SUMMER YET!!

JR. we are the lighting capital of the USA, the only other place worse then C-Fl. is the Amozon.
I own a Irragation Co. and replace the clocks all the time in the summer.
I tell customers to buy S.P for PC's for their Irr. Clocks.
We have a little joke about S.P's= instead of throwing the timmer 20' off the wall with the S.P. it will only throw it 3'
Of course a S.P. helps by way of the Ele. surgeing up or down or spikeing ect.....
And not so much with a direct lighting hit.
I have pics of a customers house where lighting blew chunks of con. off her front steps and sidewalk, then hit the door bell went on up and hit the drywall obove her front door ect....
And lost count how many have been blown apart across a 3 car gar.
Have seen it where it hit a panel truck rick. off down on the pavement put a 1" hole in the road, went down and hit a main water line trailed up to the house and blew everything ele. in the house.
another time, a guy was sitting in a rocking chair with a dog chain coiled up next to him,
Lighting come in (open widow) danced around a few times on the chain and bang went and hit the lamp (in the same room) and blew it up BANG!
