Quick Hi!

Post by MidoriMeadows » May 8th, 2006, 11:27 pm

Phoenix is pretty hot. They keep me chained in an air conditioned room much of the day. Noisy as hell, the hotel backs up to a freeway. Room is really nice though. I've avoided being alone so haven't had strange men try to pick me up. One of my girlfriends from the last training is here. She's from Seattle and our flights came in at the same time so we came from the airport together. We eat together so guys leave us alone. Miss my kids. Miss my cat. I've been promised carne asada burritos by a couple other people I know that live here. All in all, not a bad trip so far.

I'm off to bed, just wanted to say hi.

Doc, that cowboy must of been from Southern Arizona. Go north towwards Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon, you'll see plenty of green and during the winter, snow.

Most of the home owners yards consist of tan rock, with palm trees. If they do grow grass, it's the type of grass they use on the greens at golf courses and use a reverse rotorary mower to cut it short.

I lived down there in 1985 and it was hotter than hell. One day it was 121 degrees and my old truck didn't have a/c, could barely hold on to the steering wheel to drive.

Sharon, would you be so kind to stop at Sha Na Na's at the corner of Camelback Road and Indian School and pick up the pasties I bought from one of the strippers and forgot to take with me when I left.

Have a great time while you're down there.

Thanks,

JR

I went up to Flagstaf also, I think its about 100 miles up into the Mts.

I liked that area, it reminded me of the northwestern side of PA.

If I had to live in AZ it would be there. I did see snow up there also, nice country old town look to it,

As it was an copper and ??? mine town at one time.

Also with all them Yankees moving there and wanting green lawns, they flood the yards unlike normal sprinkler systems and due to that,

It has raised the hum. up 13 persent so it's not as dry as it used to be.

What A Day!!

I start out at 05:00 getting a shower, guzzle down a cup of mud, head off for an early eye examination. Try being cool and taking the back route to avoid the morning traffic, make a wrong turn and wind out in the woods about 20 or so miles off track, turn around and are stuck in all the southerly traffic of those that are working in the city. Finally get to the institute 30 minutes late! Rush up the stairs and check in..

Now here's where the fun begins.. The receptionist asks for my insurance, to which i reply "I don't have any insurance" But i will pay cash for the exam, and how much is it? She replies they require a $300.00 Deposit be paid up front by Cash, Check, Or Credit Card! We go a few rounds about the deposit and i finally tell her, I may be fat and ugly, but I'm not stupid! Turned and walked out! Puck Them!!

I had noticed my old Benz had been dribbling some transmission fluid the past few days, and backing out of the institutes parking lot i see a huge puddle under where it had been parked.. I had just paid my old so called buddy Hubert (the local Mercedes Specialist) 900.00 to do a few things to it, One being to R&R The Gear Box and re-seal it!

I get to the office and feeling good decide to jack the passengers side up and see where the leak is.. (Hubert is in Germany so i decide to look myself) I find he over tightened 2 pan bolts so tight it split a c-shaped rubber gasket that lines the pan.. While I'm under there i inspect the R&R and quickly see the trans was never removed from the car! So there was no way a front pump O-ring and converter seal had been installed!

Anyway.. I wind up on the other side of town getting a filter kit and gasket, 22.00 and 4 quarts of Castrol Dextron.. Come back and remove the pan, only to fing they gave the wrong gasket and had to make that trip again! Get the right one and r&r it.. Of course i see a minor dribble of oil around the bell housing, I had requested while the trans was out to pull the flywheel and R&R the rear main seal.. Which obviously was not done either!!

God Help Him when he gets home!! And he better come clean and give me a serious chunk of $$$ back!! I swear if i don't get some satisfaction out of him, I will rent a bill board close to his shop and tell everyone how he shafted me! ARRRRRRR!!!

And on top of that i didn't sell anything today!!

That is one rough day you had Doc. I had to deal with a bunch of idiot management types today. And with that said, I have to work tomorrow, really burned out.

RS, Flagstaff is nothing like PA, it's more like the western part of the states, Oregon, Northern California, and WA state. It's really nice country around Flagstaff.

When you mention "Yankees", you are speaking of anyone that is east of the Mississippi and north of the Mason-Dixon line. Arizona is very similar to Florida, snowbirds, old farts, AARP, and little old blue haired ladies that can barely see over the steering wheel when they drive. It's shame they let them Yankees travel west of the Mississippi. Here in the Pacific Northwest, we don't let them in. They are first given a warning to turn back, if they proceed, they are terminated immediately. Occassionaly, a Johnny Reb will be mistaken for a Yankee and get the same welcome. We are truly sorry about that.

When you go to Flagstaff and kick the soil around abit, you will notice that it is grey and black sand!

No it is Volcanic ash, The whole area is volcanic and the cool thing about it is when the snow melts there is no mud, The water just goes straight thru the ash!

We were looking to relocate over there! Still would love to!! But I'm battling with that comfort zone thing!

Hi Al,

I'm fine. I didn't get home til midnight on Friday. I didn't sleep well the whole time I was in Phoenix cause of the traffic noise. So I was thrilled to be heading home. Get on the plane. Sit for an hour. Get off the plane. Trot to another terminal cause the new plane is waiting for us. Sit at the gate for about 1 hr. Get on the plane. Oh yeah, we forgot to unload the extra fuel cause the plane was supposed to go most of the way across the country with just the flight crew. Gotta get the extra weight off. Fuel truck breaks. Wait for another fuel truck. Ended up leaving when we were supposed to be landing. I was sooooo tired.

Spent Sat. catching up the business stuff. Sunday I didn't even get on the computer for anything. Read a book most of the day and then went to a movie with baby girl. Talked to my mom. Good mom's day. Now back to the grind.

It's hot here today. Somewhere in the low 90s. Finished my last appt. ran a couple errands and am now on the front porch with a glass of wine.

Only had one guy try to pick me up in Phoenix but I was generally in a big group. About a dozen of us went out on Thurs night to this big bar called Jillian's. They have ab out 4 restaurants in there and all kinds of games. We went bowling, played air hockey and even went shopping cause it's in a mall.

Have discovered I can't even pick up a prescription without someone trying to pick me up. Never thought I was that hot. No, it wasn't some geriatric either.

Glad to be home though. I missed my baby girl a lot.

Hear you're thinking you'll make to OKC next month. I think we're all going to have a lot of fun.

I have been so busy lately i haven't had time to chat..

We sold 29 Retail last month and i think 17 this month.. Been selling Volvo's like crazy! And sold a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon tonight.. We have 60+ on the trader now. This time of year is best for retail since the wholesale market is a little soft. I have been trying to get the Volvo's shot up as they come back from the detail shop. And shooting up all the others! It's a lot of work!

Sharon, Glad you had a safe trip.. There's an old saying, I think it was invented in Kansas, It's sure good to be home!

Tommy Turtle said he was not feeling good, I hope it is nothing serious!! Hopefully you can join us next month..

I still don't think that I'm all that great to look at. I think some guys will just hit on anything female. I'm generally really nice to people too so if someone is nice to me I'll be nice back. I end up talking to a lot of little old ladies at the grocery store.

If I wasn't so lazy I'd find a pic for T. Wouldn't be mine though. I never allow photographic evidence.

Hi Sharon, glad to see you back. Hope you had a great time. Phoenix is my favorite big city. I lived in that area in 1985, while working at the Palo Verde Nuclear plants. I could be taking off for work somewhere, for a few months or may just take a few months off, before we're ready to complete the second phase of our project. Management is trying to keep us all together, but things don't always turn out like that. Several of us have been offered jobs elsewhere. I've been told that I may just move elsewhere on site, but I've actually been looking forward to having a 2 month vacation. Will be able to finish my projects. This morning, will check on a mid 60's VW bug to restore, with the exception of the last 5 years, have owned at least one of them for 30 years. Tried to buy a '34 Ford, but the price was more than I am willing to pay and am still looking for a model A or T to rat rod.
I still don't think that I'm all that great to look at. I think some guys will just hit on anything female.
I've seen pictures and you're dead wrong. Do you really think us guys will hit on any female, I don't think so.

Almost time to get ready for work, later..................

Sharon, sure glad to see you made it home OK.
Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. To me, you are a beauty. Not only in looks, also in personality.

I am hoping and praying to be able to go to Okie City.

I am still very weak, but doing much better.
I sure thought I was a goner this time.

I want to thank everyone for the thoughts and prayers. Deeply appreciated.

I read that Tony bought property in Marianna. Good move Tony, great place, great people.

Doc, sure is good to hear about your business. Puts a big smile on my face.
Lol, love to hear when you are doing good.

Awww JR, that's sweet. Someday I'll find a guy who loves my brain. I have 2, the distance is just so much I doubt that it'll ever come to anything.

If you could afford the 2 months off I'd take it. I wish I could have a couple months off, then I would have a chance to work on the Barracuda.

Tommy, I'm glad you're doing better. I hope you feel well enough to come to OK.

Honey, you just need to take it easy. If the BP was what was outta whack you don't need to be pushing yourself. Leon's bp was always really high. He stroked out cause of it among other things. Don't want anything to happen to my purple turtle. I've found that most things in life can wait until we're ready to do them. If they can't, oh well, they just have to.
