A guy was telling me today, That the Em. rooms at the Hosp. shut down because of the Illeagal Mex. flooding the Hosp. and they can't refuse them, So what the did was shut it down.
Because they were not getting paid, And now you have to have a Doc. slip to go to the Em room.
I think he meant in southern Cal. or areas like that. I wonder if JR or Sharon out near the Left coast has heard the samething?
Has anyone else heard this..........
That's pretty much true. Many hospitals along the boarder states have closed, bankrupt, because of the illegals coming across the borders, getting free health care, while many of the legal citizens of the USA can't get medical care.
Something is wrong with this picture. I read todays paper, high school kids protesting the bill to crimalize illegals in this country. About 100 Mexican kids, waving Mexican flags and one legal Mexican citizen in his military uniform, waving the USA flag, being harrassed. The police were armed with pepper spray and bullets, they should of let 'em rip. One 14 yo girl was arrested for inciting a riot.
Maybe we should put a bounty on illegals. At a $1.00 a piece, I could retire at the end of next month.

I know this has been an ongoing problem. Haven't heard anything specific but I've been sorta in my own little world lately.
I worked for the county hospital about 15 years ago in NM. A lot of people use the emergency room instead of a dr because they can't afford a dr. Not just illegals either because in NM most employers don't provide insurance so even people who make a pretty good income avoid the dr. If you're making 25k (which is good for there) how do you afford dr. bills? So you either wait til it's bad and really an emergency or you go in hoping to get treated. Drs will turn you away with no insurance or cash up front so you have no choice.
I have my doubts about the way medicine is going. I've seen expensive, heroic measures taken to save someone who doesn't have quality of life. Really old people who are failing in general are propped up for a few more years which are filled with pain and confusion. Shit, just let me die. The other one that has always gotten me is the million $ hospital bill for a baby that weighs 1 lb at birth, has so many problems that at best they will be functional in some ways but not other, at worst they are sick their whole short lives and then they die. I've lost babies so don't think I'm callous. I had 2 brothers who lived for a few days before dying. Yes, I know the heartache. I also know it diminishes in time. I still sometimes get sad about my babies but I also realize that there was something wrong with them and it's better this way.

I wonder too. I have a prescription that cost $1504.00 per month, but my co-pay is $30.00. Sure thankful I have insurance. You can't aford to be sick today, Iam shocked at what some of our customers pay for meds, some it runs near 1,200.00 a mon. How in the world can anyone aford that?
There are programs and places in my area that help with providing meds to those that can't afford them. They have an annual car show to raise money, I attend it. Most of the shows that I attend are for raising money for school kids, March of Dimes, Am. Heart, Am. Cancer, and more. A majority of the car/motorcycle clubs and club members are very giving, do a lot of charity work. Our show tomorrow is a fund raiser for POP, Pet Over Population. Not every fund raiser is for humans, got to take care of our pets too.

I have a Vietnamese Doctor that I have been seeing since the beginning of time. $25 for an office visit. No checks, no insurance, just cash! Though I have good health insurance, he has been keeping me alive and kicking for over two decades now. There has been several times I have gone into his office and should have been hospitalized. I just ask him, "Doc, are you sure there's nothing you can do?" He would go to the back and get me some kind of sample medicine that somebody had left for him. Within a few days, I am feeling better.
He loves to sit and visit with me about the car business. There has been a couple times he has called me at home with a question about buying or selling a car or boat. He is my friend
..... I try to avoid ERs!

Tommy, sounds like a great doctor. I get a few samples here and there from the doctors myself.
In my area, the doctors want their cash, but the dentists are the big robbers. My parents house is across the street from four blocks of dentists, couple of doctors, and the guy who has the McDonalds franchise in this area. All are multi-million dollar houses, that overlook the river.
Most doctors don't have these houses like the dentists do, unless their spouses are doctors too. Think I went into the wrong profession, have enough years of college to have taken the classes to become one and do an internship. They say a doctor/dentist makes an average of $225K per year and I'm sure the dentists make more.
I'm glad I have insurance, but on dental it pays about 50% of the bill and up to $1500.00 per year. I've had almost all my teeth that were previously filled, capped. Before I did all of that, I said I would prefer to have them pulled and replaced with dentures, that way when I came back to them, I could take them out and drop them off with them, come back when they were finished.
