First Time Buyer, Have We already been Frauded?
willbone3 (1 ) View Listings | Report Feb-09-06 10:26 PST
Hello,

My husband and I are first time bidders and we are not sure if we should be concerned yet and would like some feedback. We were bidding on a vehicle and thought we lost it. However, we received a "second chance" e-mail through eBay from the seller to respond if we were still interested. Which we did and asked a few questions, he then responded saying he was out of country and that eBay would contact us with specific directions and we should follow them completely to the letter, which we did. However, once we completed and sent the money as requested and contacted eBay, we have not heard anything from eBay or the seller. Upon further investigation we have found out that eBay says not to use western union, which we did per supposedly eBay's initial instructions and have since sent eBay 3 e-mails and have not had a response from them or the seller. We were told initially from eBay that it could take up to three days to receive the tracking number once they receive the payment information and it is now four, should we be concerned or are we jumping the gun? Since this is a vehicle purchase you can understand our concern on having not heard anything from anyone so if someone out there has any suggestions, we would appreciate the help!!!

P.S. the second chance offer was not from the original seller. The scammers are out of country, probably Russia, even if they say Greece or Italy. They send all these BOGUS offers of someone else' stuff and use FAKE ebay and other sites to make their offer appear legit...

I have to ask this question everytime I see a post like this. Did Western Union give you any information UPFRONT that you may be getting RIPPED OFF?

Oh Man, sorry this happened. Hope it wasn't expensive.

Never send money by WU to anyone you don't know.

O.K., we've been scammed, why hasn't eBay returned our e-mails? Also, how can we be sure if we ever decide in future to make any more bids on eBay that this is legit. According to the ratings this person was suppose to be on the up and up and the e-mail we received supposedly from eBay was suppose to be from their security center and said this guy's account was insured up to $10,000.

I'm willing to bet that the e-mails that you got were not from eBay and that is why they haven't been returning. Someone got into a good seller's account and stole their identity. That is why it appeared that the seller had good feedback.

j-ainc (67 ) View Listings | Report Feb-09-06 11:50 PST 10 of 11
Just grins! open up your "My Ebay" and see if any of the e=mails you recieved are there! I would venture to say No. Since they were sent outside ebay.

how can we be sure if we ever decide in future to make any more bids on eBay that this is legit

If you come and post your intent to bid here, The majority of us will look at it for you and give OUR opinions (just remember what opinions are like) on the auction and vehicle.

Good luck in the future

That strikes me funny how EBay can jump like a lion when it comes to late fees and nonsense but here we have a member useing THEIR auction house and can't get an answer.

There's no Question EBay COULD be a good thing,

But EBay you can't expect everyone in the world to be a sherlock holmes and weed through the rip off auctions that are posted on YOUR web site.

Well you can chalk this OP (new member) up as good advertisment and word of mouth of what exactly goes on here, and HAS BEEN GOING ON HERE FOR "YEARS"!!!!!

There's only so long you can play dumb.

Some things never change!

I don't understand where all the ignorant people come from?

I see what your saying, but it just dawned on me that these people come there thinking everythings on the up and up. (of course I knew better) but just putting myself in their shoes I guess?

And yet on the other hand I guess we all asume the world has heard by now what shanagans go on.

And maybe we been around too long?

NEWBIES THINK E PIG WILL TAKE CARE OF THEM

With all the shenanigans that is going on over on the ePig, Tony is going to get a very high water bill!

The ePig claims they have 20,000 of purchase protection insurance, It falsely creates a sense of security. I guess some people believe there Really Is a Pot O Gold at the end of the rainbow!

When i see something advertised dirt cheap, i stop and ask myself "What is wrong with it?" Guess the lure of a 70,000 collector car for 7800.00 on eBay tosses all common sense out the window!

Meanwhile.. The Piggy's Stock is down..
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=EBAY&t= ... z=m&q=l&c=

Would someone please flush the toilet at ePig headquarters??

Thing is, these people actually paid a reasonable price as I remember. It's just sad, they probably will never buy anything there again. I have to admit I don't buy anything expensive anymore. It's not worth the hassle. Mostly I buy used books at a couple of bucks a pop. I get ripped off it's probably not worth my effort to do anything about it and it's not worthy trying to really rip someone off for that kind of money.

Got a guy in VA hitting on me now. He's in love with my horses and says Leon was a fool to leave me and that Barracuda!

You can take a pill to get rid of a headache, but there's no cure for stupidity. Where do these people come from that get scammed? I feel sorry for them, but to send money WU to an unknown person.

BTW, I really like these Emoticons!

So this guy loves your Horse's and your Cuda, Thats nice you too would have somethings in common (all yours) Did he happin to mention that he liked you and that growing old together wouldn't be such a bad thing!

Or did he just like your toys, Did he by chance tell you not to sell the H-D?

Ohhhhhhh Sharon, You can always just go out and get laid, And all your toys will stay yours !

Now you're advocating I not be picky? I'm too picky. Seriously, I can't just hop in the sack with anyone, that would really bug me. And my toys will always remain mine. Maybe the next guy in my life just needs to have his own toys that he pays for himself instead of playing with mine or expecting me to pay for them. In fact, he ought to buy me a few toys just cause he adores me so much.

Boss is trying to fix me up with her daughter's boss. Works for the city. Nice guy. I don't know if I would know what to do with a nice guy. I've never had one.

Just treat him, Like you want to be treated! And He will treat you like you want to be treated!

It works out great, Until one thinks they deserve something!

Thats when a relationship becomes a job! Then all the fun is gone.

I've always done all the work. I've never had a guy who would treat me nice. OK ex treated me nice as long as I stayed in my place, you know, a few steps below him. I was only allowed to know how to cook and clean better. Never had a guy who thought I was smart. I've always been told I wasn't quite smart enough. I don't think I could deal with someone being nice to me. Guess that's why I still need to be alone.

Depends on how the pendulem is swinging on whether Carrie appreciates or tolerates me!

But that's the way it should be you give a little you take a little. It works out in the end. I just often seem to be the give. I know that's my problem which is one thing I've really been working on for the last few years. In fact, it was really good with Leon for a long time because it did work that way. I just don't think he could handle the change of moving. I think if I'd moved up there he would have done better because he'd still have been where he's lived for nearly a decade and he'd still have the same job. The only change would have been me and the kids. Instead it was like he had everything change. I'm still not really angry with him. I just can't live like that. I also know that's why he left, because he realized what he was doing wasn't fair to me. If he would have said something to me in the last 2 months and told me what he was doing to fix it then I could be patient. But I know him, he's buried his head in the sand and convinced himself that either he can't fix himself or it was all my fault. Either way I have to get on with life. I don't like to be alone. It's not that I don't do fine that way or anything, I just like having someone to talk to and someone to snuggle up to at night.

I know, I think about it. Last dog I had tore up the house, yard, fences and was in the street too much. I had to give her to someone that was home more. So I have a cat and teddy bear.
