First Time Buyer, Have We already been Frauded?
willbone3 (1 ) View Listings | Report Feb-09-06 10:26 PST
Hello,
My husband and I are first time bidders and we are not sure if we should be concerned yet and would like some feedback. We were bidding on a vehicle and thought we lost it. However, we received a "second chance" e-mail through eBay from the seller to respond if we were still interested. Which we did and asked a few questions, he then responded saying he was out of country and that eBay would contact us with specific directions and we should follow them completely to the letter, which we did. However, once we completed and sent the money as requested and contacted eBay, we have not heard anything from eBay or the seller. Upon further investigation we have found out that eBay says not to use western union, which we did per supposedly eBay's initial instructions and have since sent eBay 3 e-mails and have not had a response from them or the seller. We were told initially from eBay that it could take up to three days to receive the tracking number once they receive the payment information and it is now four, should we be concerned or are we jumping the gun? Since this is a vehicle purchase you can understand our concern on having not heard anything from anyone so if someone out there has any suggestions, we would appreciate the help!!!

P.S. the second chance offer was not from the original seller. The scammers are out of country, probably Russia, even if they say Greece or Italy. They send all these BOGUS offers of someone else' stuff and use FAKE ebay and other sites to make their offer appear legit...

I have to ask this question everytime I see a post like this. Did Western Union give you any information UPFRONT that you may be getting RIPPED OFF?

O.K., we've been scammed, why hasn't eBay returned our e-mails? Also, how can we be sure if we ever decide in future to make any more bids on eBay that this is legit. According to the ratings this person was suppose to be on the up and up and the e-mail we received supposedly from eBay was suppose to be from their security center and said this guy's account was insured up to $10,000.

I'm willing to bet that the e-mails that you got were not from eBay and that is why they haven't been returning. Someone got into a good seller's account and stole their identity. That is why it appeared that the seller had good feedback.

Just grins! open up your "My Ebay" and see if any of the e=mails you recieved are there! I would venture to say No. Since they were sent outside ebay.

If you come and post your intent to bid here, The majority of us will look at it for you and give OUR opinions (just remember what opinions are like) on the auction and vehicle.
Good luck in the future

That strikes me funny how EBay can jump like a lion when it comes to late fees and nonsense but here we have a member useing THEIR auction house and can't get an answer.
There's no Question EBay COULD be a good thing,
But EBay you can't expect everyone in the world to be a sherlock holmes and weed through the rip off auctions that are posted on YOUR web site.
Well you can chalk this OP (new member) up as good advertisment and word of mouth of what exactly goes on here, and HAS BEEN GOING ON HERE FOR "YEARS"!!!!!
There's only so long you can play dumb.
