The terrorist attacked us! We only screwed around with the world powers for a little while then attacked Afganastan and Iraq. Now everybody is pissed because we jumped the gun enstead of showing diplomacey and waiting 10 yrs to resolve it.

Terrorist organizations are using telephone lines to set-up and contact there counter parts in the US. We use taps to get a jump on their activity.

I have known way to many Vietnam vets to like to see things strung out. I agree, bomb the shit outta them and be done. I don't trust our govt. so I don't like them to be able to hide behind the Patriot act to take care of other spying. I don't argue that sometimes speed is of the essence to take care of terrorists but the fact is, a lot of this stuff will be used against us. I've never made any bones about not liking a lot of things about the govt. Will they decide to spy on me? I would never do anything bad, except not vote for people and write letters and all the normal legal stuff.

Back about 20 years ago, Albuquerque decided that biker gangs were a problem. We actually managed to get hold of a secret report. In that report, one of the top 20 dangerous bikers looked like my ex. You know, big, blonde, beard and rode a big black Harley. We got harrassed by cops since they thought it was him not someone else.

In San Diego several of my friends got rousted because of similar secret reports. If they had a tail light out they'd get pulled over and harrassed to the point a few times they ended up at the station. They weren't doing anything wrong, just lived in a rough, cheap part of town and had old beat up cars with tail lights out.
