eBay was Infested With Scammers back in 2004. Fraud was Rampart but CEO Meg Whitman kept pocketing the profits. Not much has changed since those early eBay days. Doc was the 1st Tampa Bay area car seller to offer used cars on eBay. The fraud got so bad that buyers couldn't trust sellers. Doc was constantly complaining about the fraud on the eBay Motors Discussion Board. Rather clean up the dump they shut him up by suspending his account.

Fraud and Distrust is still a major problem for eBay Inc as of this update 10/19/19. This video was produced by Doc in 2013 while eBay gave scammers the run of the house. Late model high-line Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and other premium cars for sale by alleged scammers at 1/4 of their market value. Buyers were swindled out of thousands!

I think they did too. I wonder when my day comes. I don't mince words on EBM and stores boards. Somehow I've only been slapped once cause I told someone to go F**k himself. Other than that they never get on me. Maybe its cause I'm soooooo hot.

Why am I not surprised at what eBay has done. I do believe eBay and Cornhole Cobb owes you an apology. You are a thorn in their side and you push their buttons for their stupidity and errors they make. I say turn the screws in a little more.

Doc, quit getting worked up over it and take care of your health. I too would be pissed at what they've done, but your health is much more important than getting upset over the bullshit games they are playing with you.

Stay away from the site for a few days and take care of yourself.

Doc shouldn't let ebay to him like that. ebay is only temporary anyhow, their attitude towards those lining their pockets will eventually be their demise.

Just think back to how many #1 companies have gone belly up for the same reason. I remember when Gimbels and Macy's were the big boys, now Walmart's shutting everyone else down; Not so long ago Prudential was largest insurance company in the world, and Bell Telephone was the only game in town.

I think ebay could use some serious competition! Maybe if say Overstocked opened a motors category ebay wouldn't be so arrogant. They might be forced to initiate for them a new concept called customer care.

This situation is probably for the best. All i know is, The stress builds up dealing with eBay and it keeps building up with each dumb offer i get on a nice car! I usually ignore them but it still builds up! Then take something like them cancelling my listing (while i was attempting to add a buy now) with the customer sitting at his computer waiting to close the listing out! It all just came exploding out! You can't pick up a phone and call someone! Deal with all their canned response form letters, etc!

When i got that reply from Bill Cobb really exploded! And don't think i have ever been so mad in my life! The rest is eBay history, I still think they used it as an excuse to get rid of me! Two wrongs don't make a right! But this has been building up inside me for a long time! The President of the company showed his immaturity as did i! We were both wrong, but it is for the best!

I think i will add some movie channels to my cable, get a nice recliner and relax when i get home. Maybe someone with some serious doe will want to start a quality & secure trading venue for cars, and hire me as a consultant..

Well Doc, you came along on eBay shortly after I did and saw the same things going on over the years as did I.

As far as I am concerned, you are a cornerstone of eBay Motors and the treatment that you received from Corn Cobb is downright awful.

My guess is that after a while, they'll reopen your account. I'd suggest writing a letter directly to Meg and state your case. Corn Cobb has no reason to treat you this way.

How ya doing? I'm off to the Beach on Fri. Don't know if that's good or not since I'm only 30 miles from Leon. I'm dumping the last of his stuff up at his office. I have to be done.

I'm feeling ok though. It was really sunny and cold today. I had a bunch of sales when I got home including a guy who called the city offices here to see if they could help him find me. They emailed me, I called and made a decent sale. Guy just doesn't know how to buy from the internet or email. Sold another case to another guy and a smaller one to another. Was a pretty good hour there.

This weather makes we want to run nekkid through a field of flower or on a sandy beach. But... the rain is supposed to come back tomorrow. Be thinking of you and all your sunny beach. I'll have to come and run nekkid on your beach some day.

Being suspended by Ebay, is a lot like getting fired from a strawberry picking job.

For those of you not familar with picking strawberrys.....I'll put it in automotive terms.

.... sorta like losing the new car sales manager job at a Daewoo Store.

On another note I saw the new Audi R-10 test runs yesterday. It is a TDI. Looks fast, no noise....just makes a swish as it goes by. I guess that is the turbo noise.

notspock is right, for you, ebay doesn't do much anyway. Most of your money gets made elsewhere with a lot less headaches. Me on the other hand. I guess I have to behave so they don't can me. I shouldn't have targeted him personally. Even though I'm thinking he was the one that had me suspended.

Personally he might be ok.. but if he was indeed the one that NARU'd me, he acted for eBay! That e-mail response really set me off but good!

My friend Erla in Iceland (the one i helped get her title) was shocked they did that to me over something so small! Hopefully she will join us here

When i think of all the money i have spent registering anti scam domains and pages it just makes me sad that eBay is still so full of scammers!!

That's cause it costs money to find them. But they have time to slap me, you, and a bunch of other people for having a bit of fun. Some day it will be their downfall that they allow a lot of this stuff to go on. There will always be scammers out there but ebay seems to have an inordinate amount of them.

Hi Doc, how are you doing, hopefully better. I had planned on resuming selling on eBay this month and now those plans have been placed on hold. Reasons for not doing so are numerous, i.e. eBay's billing practices, scammers, BIN bandits, etc.

I have a lot of classic auto parts that I want to sell, but probably will wait until April and sell them at the swap meet. I do have several items that will get much better prices, if listed on eBay. I'm not in any hurry to sell, so I will wait a little longer.

But you take care of your health, don't let that place get to you. Let us know how the legal battle goes.

JR, Why don't we start a for sale forum here? You could post stuff for sale. Might even cook up another site for selling, My webhost has a free php shopping cart i could install that is set up for PayPal. Not sure how it works but i will look into it. Also Ioffer.com is a good place to sell small items.

Could try that Doc. I do not use PayPal and have no intention of using it. I do have one item that will need to go on eBay, to get the exposure and money I want out of it.

It's been really hard for me to get motivated to sell on eBay again. Usually the classic car items I sell, sell out at the local swap meet in April. My friend and I pay $15.00 for a spot, spend 8 hours selling, plus take a look around. We're going to do it again this year. After that, I will probably sell on the internet again.

Keep us informed on what you plan on doing.

Why is it they go after the greatest sellers? Lately, I've been thinking I need to be a little nicer. Until I get some stuff taken care of I need my ebay income. I've really been trying to tone down my sarcasm about ebay. Which pretty much leaves me talking about sex. Oh well. At least they'll probably just slap me around on the boards once in a while for that. Leaves me feeling rather shallow though.

I don't think ebay wants the honest ones. They expend a lot of energy assisting certain PS on the regular part of ebay that have poor service and are dishonest. Level playing field my ass. I still remember the PS who was highlighted in one of their feel good newsletters a couple years ago. When a lot of sellers started looking at his auctions they realized he was shilling all over the place. I think that was the last article they did. After about a year the highlight articles reappeared but generally they're about regular sellers who are handicapped or in some other disadvantaged group. Ummm sorta embarrasing when someone who's supposed to be a top seller is doing bad stuff.

Sharon, my problem is a little different.
It seems I am being overly reported for "Abusing the system" or so they call it.

What it all boils down to is, I have been selling off referrals from other buyers.
To put it in better terms, selling to dealers who don't want a paper trail.

I have lots of customers who pay through pay pal, without an auction number.
Big Red Flag pops up. We know who owns pay pal.

Ending auctions early is the most reported thing.
There is nothing in Ebay rules that states, you must let the auction run the full time alotted.

When a troll gets mad at you, hang on you are in trouble.

Just an opinion, I think the same thing happened to our beloved Doc.
He was just another victim, that the trolls took down.
