Answer to your question is no. We're probably looking at different types of auctions and different locations.
I search eBay for misc. items and vintage car parts all over the USA and vehicles closest to me. I see the vehicles with the reserves and BIN go to the very end of the auctions and be relisted when they haven't been sold.
I guess it depends on what one is looking at and how serious they are to buy. I don't search eBay looking for scams, shills, games or things like that. I figure if the person holding the auction has a right to do what they please with the item they have for sale, so if it ends early, time to move on, because it was either sold or the seller is working the system.
I did bid on a car in my area the other day, it's a no reserve auction, sure looks like shilling going on, I have watched it, but refuse to place any more bids on it. When the auction is done, I'll move on, there will be no whining, snivaling or reporting of it on my part. I'm not into playing the game.
Damn, it's too early in the morning, but not too early for a splash of Crown in my coffee.
